My goal is to teach
kids of all ages the fundamentals of basketball as well as develop the social
skills necessary for the game of life. I am able to use my experience as a
basketball player to relate with and inspire the children that I coach.
I grew up in Prentiss,
MS and graduated from Prentiss High School before attending Pearl River
Community College in Poplarville, MS. While playing Center for the Pearl River
Wildcats, I majored in Physical Education and Business Administration. From Pearl River, I went to William Carey
University in Hattiesburg, MS and moved to the Forward position on the
Crusaders basketball team. While at WCU, I continued my studies in Elementary
Education, Physical Education, Business Management/Marketing and Sales and
Advertising.
Following my college
studies and playing career, I pursued my professional basketball career from
1995 to 2002 playing for teams across Europe and South Africa. During this
time, I was fortunate to play all five positions on the court for teams based
in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium and South Africa. It was
during my professional career that I began working with children through young
adults to improve their skillset on and off of the basketball court helping them
to play at their highest potential.
Over the past 10 years,
I have coached boys and girls basketball in a local middle school feeder
program. I have coached with the Lady Shooters basketball organization for the
past 15 years with responsibility for all coaching duties associated with girls
travel teams of various ages. Since 2008, I have also coached in the Cherokee
Chargers boys travel team program as well. In addition to coaching boys and
girls teams, I have continued providing individual and group training skills
enhancement workouts and basketball camps year-round to children in our
community.
